Alexander Mapleson

Having grown up involved in both dairy and beef operations Alexander understands the importance of healthy soils and healthy plants. Alexander graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and came to join Brown’s in 2015. Alexander enjoys analysing soil fertility to help better utilise fertiliser application in meeting individual enterprises requirements. As a local to the Yannathan area, Alexander has knowledge of local soil type and climatic conditions that can help you improve your productivity.

Jessica Ashburner

Jessica joined the Brown’s in early 2019 as a Graduate Agronomist. Jessica grew up on a Daffodil farm situated in the Dandenong Rangers and has completed a degree in Agriculture through the University of Melbourne. Prior to taking the position at Brown’s Jessica had worked with Timac Agro as an Assistant Agronomist, where she developed her passion for soil health and plant nutrition.

Tim Manders

Tim is passionate about all thing’s agriculture having grown up in the Yarra Valley and completing a Farm Business Management Advanced Diploma at Marcus Oldham College. Tim has developed a solid understanding of intensive horticulture, tree and vine crops from working across Victoria and throughout the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining the Browns Fertilisers team, Tim was a grower of Heirloom Tomatoes and Raspberries at Wandin, where he developed a deeper understanding of the challenges facing modern agriculture in Australia. Tim has a keen interest in soil health and understands that it is our greatest asset.

Laura Hunt

Laura is local to the district, having grown up on a beef cattle property near Maffra. Over the last five years, Laura has been studying Agricultural Science at Charles Sturt University at Wagga Wagga while also working as a farm hand on a sheep and mixed cropping farm.

Laura hopes to build upon her Agricultural Science studies and background of practical farm experience, while working alongside the Brown’s agronomy team to provide a quality agronomic service to the region with a focus on boosting farm production.

John Bowman

John joined the Brown’s Leongatha team in 2022 bringing with him a wealth of knowledge following a 32-year career working for Agriculture Victoria. John’s lifetime involvement in the rural and agricultural communities have set his foundation for understanding all facets of the sector, coupled with running his own farming operation local to the Leongatha depot.

John’s passion is working with farmers to achieve their individual production goals, whilst supporting the local community. Outside of work and farming John enjoys helping and supporting local football plus spending time with his grandchildren.

Peter Howie

Having grown up on a sheep, beef and cropping property in Maindample, North East Victoria Peter has a firm understanding of the local region. Graduating from the University of Melbourne Peter went on to join FoxAg as an Agronomist whilst remaining involved in his family property. Peter now runs his own property beef and sheep property in Maindample along with his wife and two children. Peter holds a duel role at Brown’s as an Agronomist as well as managing the operations of the Brown’s Merton depot.
